This weekend I learned that there is an incomprehensible current of evil gripping some of the most powerful and influential people in this world.
How can we not feel hate when seeing such evil?
I feel so much hate right now.
But what do I do with that hate?
If I let it fester, it just turns into more hate, which for me turns into insomnia and stomach pain.
And guess what… no matter how hard I try, I can’t win the game of hate.
Nor can you.
The evil that has gripped some of the rich and powerful in our world comes from a deeply embedded hate that can crush the most vengeful hate we can muster like an ant.
But we need to win this battle. There is no other choice…
For our kids.
For our planet.
For our souls.
So, I’m changing the battlefield.
I’m leaning into love, as hard as it may be right now.
Not for “them,” but for “us.”
They know nothing about love, so they can’t fight on this battlefield. But I can, and you can too. It just takes discipline to not get dragged into their dumpster fire of hatred.
So, where do I turn when I need some support with this intention? Hugh Prather. Here is what he has to say about love (emphasis is mine). I hope it resonates with you today as it has with me.
“Love unites the part with the whole. Love unites me with the world and myself. My life work could well be love. Love is the universe complete. Detachment is the universe divided. Jon Batiste gets this. I’ve you’ve ever seen him perform, you’ve heard him say,
“I love you even if I don’t know you.”
And you feel it. You feel his love unite everyone in the building. You see it in others’ eyes. You feel love’s immense power. You realize that if together we ARE love, hate has no chance of winning this battle.
I’m gonna try to be myself today. I’m gonna be love.
